SUKABUMI - Intel in collaboration with IGI (Association of Indonesian Teachers) targeting 50 thousand teachers in Indonesia this year should be IT literate.
"Once when running training courses for 500 teachers, 200 of whom have never held computer," said one member of IGI, Satria Dharma on the Intel Media Camp in Sukabumi, Tuesday (6/4/2010) yesterday.
IGI, which originated from a community get-togethers of teachers initiated a joint venture with Intel to conduct training programs for teachers ITC.
It said other members of the IGI, Mohammed Ihsan, the teachers who receive training from Intel and ICT is indeed spelled IGI still small compared with the existing number of teachers across Indonesia.
"There are 2.7 million teachers in Indonesia. What had been trained as many as 33 thousand. It is still quite small, but we expect these teachers could inspire other teachers to want to change and develop," said Ehsan.
This cooperation is part of Intel's contributions in terms of a form of education. Each year, Intel has set aside an investment of USD100 million to facilitate the development of ICT in educational settings, in 50 countries, including Indonesia.
Together with the IGI, last year Intel provide ICT training to 33 thousand teachers across Indonesia. This year, as stated by Intel Country Manager Indonesia, Budi Wahyu Jati, targeting both Intel and IGI there are 50 thousand teachers who received ICT training.
"In addition to facilitating the training of ICT, through this program Intel also donated PCs, has entered the competition implementation of ICT in teaching and supporting computer ownership program for teachers," said Budi.
